In a heartwarming development at the zoo, both mother and baby are in good health following a recent birth. The tiny chimpanzee baby is already bringing joy to all who see it, especially its extended family.

According to Andrew Lenihan, team manager at the primate section of the zoo, 'You'll often see the new baby being passed between other females who want to lend a helping hand and give ZeeZee some well-deserved rest.' This shows just how much the chimpanzee troop has come together to support each other.

The new arrival is an essential asset to the critically endangered population of chimpanzees, and Lenihan noted that the baby is already quickly becoming accepted by its extended family. 'Mum ZeeZee and her new arrival instantly bonded and she's been doing a great job of cradling him closely and caring for him,' he said.

The zoo staff are thrilled to see a precious new life in the troop, and Lenihan added, 'We're incredibly proud to see a precious new baby in the chimpanzee troop.' This birth is a testament to the importance of conservation efforts and the vital role zoos play in protecting endangered species.
